World’s Columbian Exposition Admission Tickets –Engraved on heavy-weight bond paper by The American Bank Note Company. Went on sale at 50 cents on 1 April 1893 (a month before the Fair opened), discontinued in September and resumed in the closing days and the “remainders” sold to the Caxton Company of Chicago.

The imagery represents the four epochs of American history:

1. The period when the country was entirely under Indian domination. 2. Columbus’ discovery and the introduction of European civilization. 3. Separation from the mother country and the beginning of independent government 4. The abolition of slavery and preservation of the Union.

Tickets were printed with and without “A”.
