Yo Heave Ho, Vignette Die Proof on india on card, Toppan Carpenter & Co. 1856

$50.00

The vignette “Yo Heave Ho” is an engraving that depicts a scene of physical labor aboard a sailing ship. In the image, two men are actively engaged in hauling a thick rope, which is part of the ship’s rigging. One man, wearing a hat and vest, is bent over near the deck, while the other, standing and wearing a headpiece (possibly a bandana or simple headdress), pulls the rope upwards towards the mast. The scene captures the strenuous effort involved in maritime tasks. This particular engraving was produced by Toppan Carpenter & Co. in 1856.
