Andrew Jackson Die Proof Engraving on india by Alfred Sealey

$50.00

Andrew Jackson was an American lawyer, general, and statesman who served as the seventh president of the United States from 1829 to 1837. Before being elected to the presidency, Jackson gained fame as a general in the United States Army and served in both houses of the U.S. Congress.

Alfred Sealey (also known as Sealy) was born in New York, USA, in 1815 or thereabouts. He had been engraving ever since the late 1830s. In 1860 he joined the American Bank Note Company. Sealey’s main strength was portrait engravings and together with a small group of engravers he would strongly influence the development of the American Bank Note style of engraving. Alfred Sealey probably passed away in 1868, in Canada.
