Three-quarters portrait of Mr. Schmitt to left upon an oval disk, with shaded ground, bordered by a colored and colorless line. Above, in a curved label of solid color, “Schmitt & Schmittdiel.” in two lines of colorless, Roman capitals; below also in a curved label of color, ” Detroit, Mich.” and under that a straight, marginal label of color inscribed “u. B. Inter. Rev.”, both in colorless, Roman capitals. At each side is a marginal label, also of color, that at left inscribed “Friction “; that at right “Matches “, in colorless, Roman capitals. Inside these side labels and closely following the outline of the central disk are colorless scroll labels, that at left inscribed ” One ” ; at right “cent” in colored, Roman capitals. There are irregular shaped tablets in the upper corners bearing colorless numerals of value upon a shaded ground. Heavily shaded ornaments above and below inner side labels upon a ground lightly shaded diagonally ; slight ornaments between the ends of the lower labels, and an outer line of color completes the design.
