Harvey A. Ingham was a physician who resided in Vergennes, Vermont, for many years. In 1855, Ingham’s brother-in-law, a man named Woodman, organize the H.A. Ingham & Co., and commenced the manufacture of Dr. Ingham’s vegetable Expectorant Nervine Pain Extractor (called at first Ingham’s Pain Killer). Ingham’s Pain Extractor was advertised as the “greatest medical discovery of the age”. The company also manufactured Dr. Ingham’s Vegetable Liver Coral Pills, and the firm continued in business until 1905.
